I rage, I fight, I listen, I laugh. But mostly I lost my idealism in my mid 20s. I've learned that ism's are apparent in every aspect of life and there's not much that can be done about them unfortunately. But I still write on this blog because it relieves my stress and makes life seem a little less meaningless.

So I’ve always had a round face, but the more weight I lose, the longer my face looks and I’m not sure I like that.

Oh the trials and tribulations of weight loss.  I am totally being facetious.

I so don’t want to spend my saturday afternoon on a conference call with my four favorite people.  Crap!

N: I like your bangs.

Me: Ok I'll cut them, I just feel like an fucking hipster.

N: What's wrong with hipster's?

Me: I guess your right, it could be worse I could be Emo!

N: (Laughing)

Me: I could be all sad, wear tight pants and listen to shitty music.

GPOMS because I haven’t participated in Wednesdays in a long time and I just cut my bang and think they looked messed up.  I feel like an f’ing hipster.

Affluential is a Word Dammit!

Or says the Oxford English Dictionary.

I am taking some courses to get my MLIS and in my management class, I wrote a paper in which I used the word affluential twice.  The prof. found nothing else wrong with my paper, except that he says affluential is not a word.  He deducted 5% from my grade for each time I used it.  Otherwise my paper was great.  Fuck him.

I WANT TO RIP HIS BALLS OFF

Can you prove it and which will, in FIGUERATIVE terms, tear off his balls?

I’m double-checking word-for-word, but it’s looking promising.

Contact the publisher. They will a) get both sides of the story, from you and him, b) probably add you as an author to the article c) probably ban him from publishing with that particular journal for 3-5 years.

This is, assuming that it’s a journal article.

If you need help contacting a publisher or E-i-C, just let me know. I have skillz.

It is a journal. We had it rejected from another journal, but he just deleted 3 paragraphs and reworded some things in the resubmission… and removed my name as primary author. This does, however, mean that the other journal has a record of it that includes authorship information. Thanks for the offer of assistance!

Oi Vey.  This is one of the reasons I left grad school.  I had a professor tell me my paper was shit and then two years later my thesis, data, and analysis were published in article she turned in to a journal.  I was pissed and there is literally nothing you can do about it.  People in academia should be held to higher standards, but they are more terrible than the corporate world because they are sneaky about it.  Nothing you can do girl, sorry to say.

I just watched Top Chef Reunion Dinner this morning before work.  Most of the chefs were pleasant, but I forgot how much of a douche Marcel was.  His personality is horrible and does not have many redeeming qualities.  I would never eat at his restaurant and wish he would go away, but I realize every reality show needs a villian.
And what is up with the latent homosexuality?  Is he gay?  Or is he just effeminate?

Where Did The Dream Go?

I remember being a young child and adults always asking me, what do you want to be when you grow up? what are your dreams?

I remember that I had so many, but I can’t remember what they are anymore and this makes me really sad.  I wanted so many things out my life, but somehow something always got in the way.  We get stuck in the routine of life and paying bills and just trying to make it.

But no longer.  I am letting go so I can move forward.

I am going to remember what my dreams were or what they are now and go for them.  I can’t be afraid and I can’t live my life for someone else or someone else’s expectations of what I should be.

I’m feeling incredibly strange about my life right now, but I’m going to make things happen.  I’m going to grab onto life and I’m going to go after my dreams.

Dear Marseeah, Mikhailovna and ReallyKatie:
I need your fashion advice.
I have three coats very similar to the one’s above. I also have a tan one in the same style and then I have a giant navy blue down puffer coat.
My problem is that I need a thin coat. A thin and warm coat. My problem with the one’s above is that while they are nice looking, they aren’t exactly the warmest coats. I mean, there’s like three buttons and a piece of fabric to cinch it shut. But, I also want it to be stylish- meaning I don’t want a Northface. The coats above are heavy, stiff and wool and make so many of my outfits get all static-clingy.
Do you have any suggestions?
Love,Cole

Have you tried looking at the J.Crew wool coats that are lined with thinsulate? They are both warm and stylish and NOT bulky… and if I remember correctly, they’re 30% off online this week.

H&M has some really cute coats all the time.  Also Old Navy, but obviously not as great quality.
